Compression means compact and shrink is a specific procedure for making files smaller using a compression algorithm. Generally, file compression may incorporate each one of the compressed files into one compressed document containing the files each.
Compressed files allow sharing and accessing files to become easier by enabling a person to obtain one file rather than tons or countless smaller files and reducing the entire size.
The design of data compression schemes involves trade-offs among various factors, including the degree of compression, the amount of distortion introduced (when using lossy data compression), and the computational resources required to compress and decompress the data.
