Stands for “Dynamic Random Access Memory”, DRAM is among the most often observed memory segments in workstations and Computer compatible PCS. Robert Dennard in 1968 first created and branded dram and released by Intel in October 1970.
DRAM stores its data in a cell containing transistors and a capacitor. the capacitors in DRAM need to constantly be refreshed to keep their charge, so DRAM requires more power than SRAM.
DRAM is widely used in digital electronics where low-cost and high-capacity memory is required. One of the largest applications for DRAM is the main memory (colloquially called the “RAM”) in modern computers; and as the main memories of components used in these computers such as graphics cards (where the “main memory” is called the graphics memory).
