A driver or device driver is software that enables a particular hardware element to exertion with an os (operating system). Drivers are required for internal components, such as optical media and video card along with the external hardware devices such as printers etc.

Advanced computer systems are “plug_and_play” without installing any driver. If it installs the drivers are recognized by the operating system which provides some additional features and functionally for the working device.

For example a mouse automatically attached to the computer system and starts working but installing the mouse drives allow the users to customize the function like button adjustments and mouse sensitivity.
