Stands for “Enhanced Integrated Drive Electronics” interface that provides faster data transfer rates than the original standard. EIDE it is the following generation of IDE interface which was produced by Western Digital and an interface popular on IBM compatible computers and is quick for Enhanced IDE. EIDE supports data rates from 16.6 and 4 MBps.
