This is a computer that acts as a server for added computers on a network. It can be a Web server, an e-mail server, an FTP server, etc. Network hosts that participate in applications that use the client-server model of computing, are classified as server or client systems.

Network hosts may also function as nodes in peer-to-peer applications, in which all nodes share and consume resources in an equipotent manner. For example, a Web host is what provides the contented of Web pages in the direction of the computers that admission it. A host is also known as the mother computer client or a node. Well, not really, I just made that up.
