The US National Science Foundation formally founded in 1993 the Net Community Information Center, or InterNIC. InterNIC was responsible for ip allocation and domain name.

Later in 1998, InterNIC, alongside IANA, were set underneath the control of the Web Company for Assigned Names and Figures (ICANN).

The US Department of Business caught ICANN to attempt the part of managing numerous Web-related projects.
