Stands for “Industry Standard Architecture”, IBM introduced ISA and headed by Mark Dean. ISA was initially an 8-bit computer bus that was later enlarged to a 16-bit bus in 1984. When this bus was initially released it was a proprietary bus, which enabled IBM to create the real interface and peripherals.

Yet, in the early 1980’s the bus was being created by other producers.
